I attended the meeting and met other block captains of our neighborhood crimewatch. Robert Turner, Director of Public Safety for the city spoke. Many of our police officers were recognized. They do serve some mean biscuits and gravy. Mmmm.

Deputy Chief Tim Martin gave us a rundown of South District crime compared to 2001. No homicides have occurred south of Pleasant Run as of Oct. Good news is Robbery is down by half and aggravated assaults are down from 65 to 19. Vehicle Larceny (car stereos, etc.) is down about 30%. Burglary is even with only four occurring on the outskirts of the neighborhood (out of a South District total of 114). Stolen Vehicles are up from 12 in 2001 to 70 this year, only one occurred in our neighborhood. Remember these numbers are for all of South District from Washington St. South inside I-465.

St. Patrick's Day:
Little Leprechauns played tricks on Mathews Street last night.
The Wee People pushed large rocks that decorate the yards of different homes on Mathews out into the street.
Subsequently someone from the University or City placed traffic cones out next to the large decorative stones.
If you have any idea of which high school or college boys might have been involved, please contact me.
